Re-enable a disabled/inactive Outlook Add-in

Some users have noticed their Outlook Add-in were automatically disabled or "disappeared" from the Outlook.  The steps to handle disabled or inactive add-ins are different.

 A. Re-enable a "Disabled" Add-Ins in 2013

  1. Go to File >Info
  2. Select Manage COM Add-ins
  3. In the windows, select Enable EasiShare Outlook Add-in, click on Always enable this add-in
  4. Close Outlook and launch again

Note: If this does not work, try the last method below.

B. Re-enable a "Disabled" Add-Ins in 2010

  1. Go to File > Options
  2. In the window select Add-Ins
  3. You may find EasiShare Outlook Add-Ins under the Disabled section & go to Manage and select Disabled and click on Go...
  4. In the window, select EasiShare Outlook Add-Ins and click on Enable.

Note: If this does not work, try the last method below.

C. Handling Inactive Add-Ins

If you open the COM Add-ins manager (see above steps), these inactive add-ins are not marked as being enabled, but they are also not marked as being disabled. In fact, their “Load Behavior” is set to “Unloaded”.

Enabling inactive / unloaded add-ins is trickier than enabling a disabled add-in. Normally, you should be able to enable them simply by marking the related checkbox in the COM Add-ins manager window (as in the above screenshot). In practice, Outlook may keep deactivating / unloading these add-ins every time when it restarts…

Then you may need to take the following steps:

  1. Exit Outlook;
  2. You need to have Administrator privileges or edit group policy and allow apply registry changes to path

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Resiliency\DoNotDisableAddinList
    and
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\EasiShare.OutlookAddIn
  3. Download attached & 4. Locate those files in Explorer
  4. Double click those 2 files one by one.
  5. Run Outlook, EasiShare Add-in should appear now.
